Trendwatch: The wavy bob
Posted By Rebecca Wakelin on July 2, 2011
Soft, sexy and perfect for summer. The wavy bob has been making…. erm ….waves this season. The embodiment of low maintenance styling, Alexa is famed for hers, Olivia Palermo invented a version of her own and recent convert Fern Cotton simply refuses to look back … here are the rules !
Snip snip snip… but you don’t have to go all the way
This season wavy bobs are being worn short as well as long which is great if you need something transitional. Nervous passengers unsure of change should ask their hairdresser to go gradually until you find the length that works best.
Leave the GHD at home
Heated stylers are ditched and products are kept to a minimum meaning this version of the bob is very nearly wash and go. Textured, tousled, teased … keep the look bed head minimal.
Nice and natural
The look is relaxed, understated and very beach babe – hair should be left to dry naturally and curls defined with a curl boosting product like Kerastase’s excellent Oleo curl.
And finally … get some lift
Flat is out and body is in. Waves should have a some bounce and those roots look best when lifted. Applying a small amount of mousse on the roots of wet hair should help lift the look while a little oil like Kerastase’s Elixir Oil applied to the middle and ends of hair will add some texture should you need it.
